RG expresses regret in SC over his remarks

New Delhi, April 29: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday expressed regret again for incorrectly attributing his remark against the Prime Minister on Rafale verdict to the Supreme Court.

Mr Gandhi filed a fresh affidavit following the apex court issued a formal notice to him on a criminal contempt petition by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi.

Mr Gandhi accused Ms Lekhi of trying to drag the court into political controversy for personal gains and political mileage by moving the contempt petition against him.

In her plea, Ms Lekhi alleged that Mr Gandhi has attributed his personal remark to the top court and tried to create prejudice.

Seeking dismissal of the contempt petition over his remark, the Congress President reiterated that his statement was made in the heat of political campaigning and there was not the slightest intention to insinuate anything regarding the Supreme Court proceedings in any manner.

The apex court had on 23 April issued criminal contempt notice to Rahul Gandhi for his remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi while referring to the Rafale judgment, which the apex court said was incorrectly attributed to it.
