Bhubaneswar,16/1/2012: On the second day of the Alma Fiesta, a socio-cultural festival of the IIT Bhubaneswar on Saturday, a socio case study competition `Perspective` was held, and the team from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), Sarang consisting of Ipsit Bibhudarshi and Barsha Behera won the competition.
The winners were decorated with the prestigious award of SNSMT-IIT Social Change Maker -2012 by noted young socio-political leader Suparno Satpathy.
This award is installed by the IIT Bhubaneswar in collaboration with the Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT).
The award has been instituted since 2009.
We at the IIT believe in thinking out of the box, and our collaboration with the SNSMT for this innovative competition is yet another out-of-the-box idea churned out of the IIT, said Shouryadipta Ghosh of the IIT Bhubaneswar.
Progressive innovation is the only way forward, and it`s high time the youth of India shifted focus on it. It is time that the Indian youth shifted from being good follower to good leader, he added.
The problem statement for this year`s competition was Earth Vs Industrialisation.
Teams in the finals were from KIIT, IIT, Gandhi Institute of Technology, Driems University, IGIT, SoA University and IBS.
